Hopefully it won't need maintaining. It just needs to go up long enough for the search engines to register the change. After 6 months or so the whole ./dept section will be removed.

I don't know if there is a PTR. When I add windows machine to the domain reverse lookup works, does that indicate the presence of one? I don't have admin access to the domain, and yes .222.44 is a Windows DNS.

ahhh, that pointed me in the right direction. Favicon doesn't appear to need authentication or exception, but /icons/* for MultiViews does. Thanks!
