This is on a machine without yum.

comment How do I determine if an Apple Open Directory user is disabled via LDAP?
Thanks, I've been looking for a good LDAP browser and found the LoginShell attribute, but can't see anything like eDirectory's LoginDisabled or Active Directory's userAccountControl to tell me if they aren't allowed to login.

comment Getting Squid to authenticate with kerberos and Windows 2008/2003/7/XP
Nice points. Although this was setup in CentOS, I come from Debian, which doesn't have sysconfig. Is there any special benefit to putting the lines there? In which part do you think you don't have to specify the DC? I know it should probably be every part, but DNS was such a pain to setup during this process I found it easier to give more information rather than less.

comment Single user returns mulitple entries for LDAP query
Yes, sort of. I'm using python so if I have a user with {'cn': ['joe', 'joe2']}, I'll get that user twice. Both results have the full CN list.

comment shExpMatch and Internet Explorer 6 in a proxy.pac
Anyone spot the annoying bug here? Everything between /* and */ is regarded as a comment, so you get a syntax error. To do this sort of thing, you'll have to use "var regex = new RegExp('...')"

It's all good. I was watching the proxy logs and example.com kept appearing. I found out after hours of debugging that this was because the transparent proxy was being used. Grrr.

comment Search LDAP for a user with a specific IP address
Ah hah! If I make the query '(&(networkAddress=*)(objectClass=user))' it gives me a much smaller subset of users. Looks like that's what I want.

comment Search LDAP for a user with a specific IP address
Great answer, but it seems changing the query to '(&(loginTime=*)(objectClass=user))' returns every user who has ever logged in. Numbers: all = 1101 after adding loginTime=* = 1046 users with uid and networkAddress = 55

comment How to Eliminate Tape Backup and Off-site Storage Service?
I would definitely look into rsync, but I would hope a company like Symantec would have a similar solution.

Mainly because newer generally equals better. I'm not really very experienced with NFS. However, the same problem happens with nfs3.

Yep, I'm using CentOS 5.2, as described in the question. :)

Pretty sure it's at 4. I'm sure it'd complain otherwise. The same thing happens if I use "mount -t nfs"
