comment What's going on with this strange MTU?
C:\>mturoute.exe 192.168.1.4 * ICMP Fragmentation is not permitted. * * Speed optimization is enabled. * * Maximum payload is 10000 bytes. * + ICMP payload of 1472 bytes succeeded. - ICMP payload of 1473 bytes is too big. Path MTU: 1500 bytes.

I have the tcp-mss set to 1350 already on both sides. I've tried changing it in the past but didn't seem to make a difference. I'm thinking it is something on the server mike as the mtu and output of the tracepath command is so weird.

That wouldn't explain whay it works for one server but not another. There are Juniper SRx firewalls at each end.

comment Exchange upgrade vs wipe and rebuild
I should of mentioned in my question but really what I'd do is a migration and not an upgrade of the existing exchange software. The choice is between a migration or removing the existing exchange from all the places it puts itself in Active Directory and installing Exchange 2010 as a new install.

comment Enable remote desktop for user created in Active directory
The Remote Desktop Users group in Active Directory in the Builtin folder controls remote desktop access to domain controllers only, not member servers. To allow users to RDP into a member server you have to add their account to the local Remote Desktop Users group on that server.
