comment Outgoing mail fails to be received by Gmail. Rejected because PTR record does not mach forward lookup
I waited, and now it works, again, it was strange to me because the mails were never rejected for that reason before. But the way I see 'My IP had an OK reputation before, it was blocked. So now it is treated differently, the improper PTR that was setup before did not cause an issue because the IP had a better reputation, now it is being treated differently so this caused the old improper PTR to be rejected, I corrected it and now It is working'. Thanks P.S: When I said they don't respect TTL, I meant they usuallygo for lower TTL than what is actually set, in my experience that is.

It is working now, it was strange as this PTR was setup for a while, as is! And now suddenly it needs correcting : ) Even though Gmail did not implement any new policy, either way the problem is solved by correcting the PTR to one that will resolve back to that IP address

I've come to realize popular providers such as Gmail do not necessarily respect TTL, but the thing is, this PTR has been setup for a long time, except it pointed to a hostname that does not resolve back to the same IP. So unless Gmail has implemented a new policy in this regard, TTL should not be the issue, either way I will have to wait and see how this goes.

I do, my provider's control panel allows me to update my PTR. And I checked it from an external server, it does resolve to the set host name

comment How do IPs end up on the spam blacklists
Spamhaus blacklisted my IP because another IP on that subnet was sending out spam, I can be sure of that because before yesterday that IP was never used, and it was not blacklisted, today it is! And because the other IP sent out spam, this clean IP was blacklisted as well. I read on "another" blacklist that the blocking is because a "neighboring" IP sent out spam, so I assume that was also the reason why spamhaus blacklisted my IP.

As it turns out, the whole subnet is blacklisted! I will do my port and try to limit spam from my IPs, but this spam issue is such a hassle really. Thanks for the info though.

comment Does software RAID-0 really improve performance?
I got that thanks, I've never experienced any hard disks failure with this provider and since I will be have 1 GBPS on both servers and they are relatively close together, it will just be the matter of replacing the drive and copying over the data. I need RAID0 Cos hard disk I/O seems to always be the bottleneck in my setups, thanks for the clarification though.

Thanks for your answer, the page you linked to was very helpful. And regarding downtime I will be using SSHfs for off-site backups so I think I will be alright

I understand this, but I was wondering if SOFTWARE RAID will have the same effect cos I tried it on my computer and set up software raid with Windows and there was no improvement

comment CPU load steadily increasing and MySQL 1.5 GB open deleted file in temp directory
I also wanted to ask, I was going to add a cron job that checks to see if there is any >1GB file opened by MySQL and restart MySQL so this does not happen again, temporarily until I find the solution, so is this safe?
