@GregAskew just saw your comment. There's no way to use certificates in SQL Server instead of local/Windows auth. You can use certificates in Active Directory, then use that AD account to connect, but that's as good as it gets.

Are there any errors? Can you post a screenshot of Object Explorer? Are you sure you are connected to the correct instance of SQL Server?
