comment qle2462 target mode on redhat 6
i gave up on fiber and grabbed some mellanox infiniband cards. then i ran into the limitations of solaris 10 5/08...maybe i should put the fiber back in and try the above. but then i have a infiniband switch coming too which would give me a subnet manager. like i said, SAN is far from trivial and if i were gonna stick with it solaris 10 would go bye bye

thats the theoterical maximum for 1gb...128MBps...i can top out at around 75 but wont hold steady. i run ZFS and the sun box is at 95% capacity. with processor/disk lag it ends up being around 50.

1gb gets me about 1.5 TB per day. i cant hammer away at my ZFS server for 20 days. in hindsight i certainly should have just moved it a little at a time though, since i have spent 2 weeks or better struggling with LACP and fiber/infiniband...using a SAN technology ala carte on a small scale is far from feasible. lesson learned there

do you think i am squandering all the benefits of ZFS by doing this? i hate indecisiveness argg..

never thought of that. at first it sounded risky but i can snapshot it anyway. plus i should be able to snapshot the LUN volume too?

i started down this road and started seeing max size limitations for a LUN. not sure where to go from here.

comment How do I replace an NIS master server?
LOL that is the goal. I had to get the current NIS down quick and just need this in a VM while i get LDAP up. Most likely my next question on here will be a good script to migrate the users over. Or if one exists anyway. This is for a university. A place where you'll find NIS :/
