@ANW: Ah, ok, sorry, didn't see that. So you are saying that host mail.s....com does not return 8...?

Do you understand how DNS works? If yes, make sure that the A record of myhostname points to the IP address of your server (i.e., if you type host mail.domain1.tld you should get your own IP address). If not, you might want to read up on that... it's among those things that you "should know" when you are running your own mail server.

@Colyn1337: No. (Would it make a difference?)

comment How can I backup an SQL Server database using Windows Backup?
I know that I shouldn't -- I wouldn't entrust my data on such a poorly documented feature. Still, I'm curious if it is possible, theoretically: SQL Server does provide a VSS writer, and Windows Server Backup is a VSS requestor, so I'll leave the question open for now. Maybe it's just a question of matching those two up (there are, for example, instructions online on how to do this for the Hyper-V VSS writer).

@pauska: Personally, I'd be interested in Windows Server 2012 R2 and SQL Server 2012. (I deliberately keep the question more general to make it more useful to others.)
