comment Splunk is fantastically expensive: What are the alternatives?
This is all well and good assuming your needs are extremely focused and won't change. The more I learn about Splunk though, the more I see its value. Can your system import data from a file? Syslog? A TCP stream? A crash report? A REST web service? A database? Then can it correlate all that together and provide visualizations? Can it create alerts? Can it export? How much would it cost you to develop custom software for all that? Disclaimer: I have no association with Splunk

comment Best way to connect multiple switches together
I was talking about the connections between the switches being manually configured for 100/Full. If two switches from the same manufacturer won't work when a link is manually configured, something is very wrong and I'd be on the phone with their tech support.

Now that I look at that output more closely, I notice that the architecture messages are just warnings. While they may be related to the ultimate problem, they're not stopping the compilation. What is the actual error causing compilation to fail?
