I have had computers in my life since the mid eighties, and somehow ended up earning my living out of being really good at doing IT. Discovered Linux about 7 years ago, and am now a full convert.

Try their sysadmin first, and then the ISP.

It would be useful if you update your question with a few of the URLs or domain names where this problem exists.

comment cannot bring up network interface
No, not for a ping. But ownership of IP address ranges very much defines the routing for them. According to the information I can see, this server (206.217.198.180) is located in Utah?

webserver.mehlerinternational.com doesn't resolve for me, I get NXDOMAIN, i.e. there is no DNS record. And your primary IP address resolves back to no-ptr.midphase.com. Is that you?

As far as my understanding of these things goes, that is correct. You are, of course, free not to use sharepoint and either use an OSS ASP.NET wiki or any other OSS technology. In fact, you don't even need a db server for some of them. Read the wikipedia page I recommended and then make your decision.

If you use sharepoint, then MS will require Client Access Licenses for that. They are cheap and often bundled together with other MS products in a Desktop package.

-1 for "closed-source nonsense software from Microsoft". This is not a flaming site and you have no right to judge the internal policies of the company raklos works for (and in case there's any doubt on the subject: I am linux user and fan).

+1 for the LART (I use my voice as an acoustic LART, it generally produces lots of reddish skin and high levels of reluctance to repeat the experience, but is otherwise undetectable).

comment How many subnets can I create (max) inside of the network 192.168.123.X/26? And why?
The "X" is any permissible value that identifies one of the 4 /26 networks within 192.168.123.0/24, i.e. 0, 64, 128 or 192. Other than that it has no impact on the answer to your question.

Please read en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Classless_Inter-Domain_Routing for details. This article contains numerous links to the various RFC documents going to extreme detail. If you get taught anything different, then your teachers are out of sync with reality.

My understanding of a /26 network is that the 26 highest bits of any address pertaining to the subnet are fixed (as per the standard definition of classless networking, CIDR), which then leaves the remaining 6 bits for hosts or subnets within the network.

Plenty of differences. Yes, ESXi installs natively and is subsequently administered through a web interface. ESXi and KVM use completely different virtual disk formats, so are not compatible.

comment Loggin in ssh server: Permission denied, please try again
Are you absolutely sure your password is correct? Plus: you can get a lot of detail from ssh by putting it into debug mode (add a line LogLevel DEBUG to the sshd_config and reload ssh). Then inspect the auth log.

+1, especially for "DL380s are somewhat lacking in RAM". If you want to run fast virtual machines, you really want to upgrade the RAM so that each VM has a decent amount to breathe with. This might also help with your login times.

comment openvpn client: force a host resolution to a given IP
Nope, not as far as I know. If the name persists even after the connection is closed, you might want to consider a pre-down script in addition to the post-up script.

comment Linux Ubuntu - Two NICs separate lan
You could try source based routing, but that has gone out of fashion a long time ago. Nowadays IP routing is primarily destination based, and in your case it simply doesn't make any sense to route your "normal" internet traffic through a different gateway than the traffic coming in through a specific public IP.

@pavium: with a username of wd40 it is likely that he comes from a country with British backgorund, where feet are a universally accepted (and in some places still official) measure of length.
