I'm a computer enthusiast, which may come from my fascination by many types of engineering. I've programmed in many languages going from TI Basic to Python to C to Scheme. The majority of my experience is in Java, which is what I use in my day job.

comment Finding Memory Leak on Linux
We don't have any of those installed, that I can see. The server only runs Apache and Tomcat. We haven't solved the problem, but we built a new VM and have the same problem there, so it's clearly a library that Tomcat or Apache is using. That's as far as we've managed to figure it out. We suspect a Java library, but don't have more information than that.

I kind of doubt it, I think the reboots are due to Xen Center (we were doing other maintenance at about the same time on the Firewalls and I think Xen freaked out). The box is being rebuilt though, so any rootkits will be removed. Thanks for the suggestion.

That's how I found it was anonymous pages that were being used (it was the only one that really changed), but I didn't see anything that stands out at me. I wish I could figure out which process is causing this. I've been wondering if it's memory not being reclaimed when processes die, as we do have a few occasional cron jobs.
