comment Is it possible to use windows authentication to control access to an external SQL server database?
Except that I'm not the admin of the server they'd be connecting to. We're only allowed to have three logins to the web-based sql server, and I don't have very fine-grained control over the security.

comment Should we move our database to our (shared) web host?
Thanks for the reassurance. I would have been perfectly comfortable if we were on a VPS, but I was a bit leery about the shared host. Mostly because when I was browsing for our database on the web server, I accidentally opened someone else's and found I had full access. :| I suppose it was the client's fault since the host gives us fairly complete control over permissions.
