Usaly they will go off by theirself, if this is really irritating you, you could reboot or find the parent process PID and kill it, but depends on what is leaving zombie behind, that could be problematic to kill that particular process.

You don't have to do it manually for each users, you just have to create a new GPO Set inside the Organizational Unit that content all your 500 users and it's all done.

@Even : Yeah that's kind of silly that proxies still work by IP assignment these days but oh well... Would be cool to work with LDAP Auth instead but in a school that's kind of PITA to implement this as user will all yield because "it doesn't work" straight out of the box... I'll maybe try to switch to MS DHCP, at least first test it to see if the proxy correctly catch it, if so, this would be the easier solution. If not, I'll try to figure out to configure dhcpd correctly.

Usually, only a reboot of computer will update the DNS records. You can also run "ipconfig /flushdns" on your client to ensure they got the lastest DNS Records in cache.

comment Conficker: Should steps taken in group policy to secure against virus remain?
Of course, I'm agree, It won't replace a well configured firewall and a good anti-virus software up-to-date.

comment Update management for Adobe Acrobat Reader
I got a proxy server that actually cache adobe update... Made with IPCop, Advanced Proxy and Update Accelerator plugins... Very cheap, but does the job just right. Also caching all windows update download on the network so the next time it's requested, it download @ 100 mbits right out of the proxy cache, very usefull and time saver!

The only problem here is that you gonna make your user waiting for the update completion, you got a lot of chance that the user just press Cancel over and over everytime he login so your update will never be applied... But if there's a way to do it unattended, this is a go way.

comment I need to setup a Guest wi-fi SSID so customers/clients can connect to the internet, what's the best way to do that?
This is a great solution, as soon as you have WRT54G Version 1 to 4 or one of the WRT54GL. Good luck to find some, they're are rare these days... unfortunatly...

This is actually the best way to keep everything secured and most companies won't cry for a 50$ a month connexion...
