comment Using SNI on Windows Server 2012 R2 not working
I have the opposite problem - my site is enforcing SNI when it's disabled! IIS has so many bugs

Something screwy's going on. IIS just quit on me about 4 times when starting or stopping different websites. Slightly surprisingly even when the sites were all stopped I could still pull up the SSL cert by IP address where I would have expected it to not come up. I may need to try another reboot when everyone's gone home.

All sites have been up for over a year. Something slightly fishy is going on that if I hit the IP directly for both with http:// then they both come up but if I use https:// with the IP then for the site showing 'SNI required' I get ERR_CONNECTION_RESET even in Chrome 42 on Win 8. But I suppose that makes sense since IIS thinks it is requiring SNI. I'm going to try and 'stop' all websites and try to start them selectively.

They are :-) I feel like this is some obscure bug - but it's hard to for instance start from scratch since the sites are all live. Do you think there's a way to disable SNI completely and then reboot - maybe some registry entry. It's not in 'add/remove features'

@MichaelHampton They already each have their own public IP (one for each UCC). Everything is working fine except one of the 'families' of sites reports 'this site works only in browsers with SNI support' and the other doesn't. The one that doesn't have this light blue bar works just fine in XP

They're on a godaddy dedicated server with the external public IP mapped through to the internal IP. Regarding IE8 he company this site is for seems to be still using it so it needs to come up for them.

comment Exporting SSL Cert private keys in IIS 7.0
This is good confirmation that I don't have a private key : it says 'The associated private key cannot be found'. I assume I need to re-key the cert

I don't believe so. I'm assuming you're using iis and my Apache and you checked usjng that website. And you're sure you have the exact right registry key?

reboot not necessary on Windows Server 2012 at least. you can verify before and after at poodlebleed.com by entering your URL and 443 for SSL port
