comment Does Supermicro IPMI require OnBoard video to be enabled?
I don't know specifically about SuperMicro, but on all of the HP/Compaq and Sun x86 servers I've ever touched, yes, the remote KVM is directly integrated with onboard video. I don't believe there's any other way to really do it, aside from a serial (dumb) terminal. Is there any reason why you're using a PCI-E video card instead of onboard video?

comment Managing zone files
Depending on what the actual setup is, it might be much more logical and secure to use zones (split horizon dns) than host.tld and host-internal.tld

comment Test PHP script load on Debian server
For MySQL, unless the author of the code is an experienced DBA, just running EXPLAIN will probably help quite a bit. Check the Slow Query Log, and go from there.

comment IM traffic bandwidth
I'd say this sounds pretty accurate. Maybe even a bit high compared to AIM (AOL Instant Messenger). If they're concerned about external bandwidth, and it's for legitimate corporate purposes, just setup a Jabber server.

comment Cannot log into my RADIUS protected wireless connection. Here's the LOG contents
"Pardon the screenshot, I cannot copy text in Windows command line." I do quite a bit of work with FreeRADIUS. You should be running this on a Unix or Linux box. It's complicated enough to debug with the help of the whole FreeRADIUS community, you don't also need to run it on a weird operating system.

You can also just mount using UUID paths instead of /dev/sdx.

comment Firewall rule visualisation tool
How does OS/firewall type not matter? If you're looking for something that takes a ruleset and generates a graph, it will need to support the ruleset format that you're using...

comment ISP like Linux WAN router/gateway
I'll say +1,000 for Vyatta. IMHO they're as close to Enterprise as you're going to get in open source (free or paid version with support and more features). Very good features, and VERY stable.

comment Transitioning from Finance to IT careers - degree required?
Good advice, though IMHO in terms of Linux I'd try to jump right in with Red Hat/Fedora/CentOS or SuSE/OpenSuSE - they have the largest share of the enterprise market.
