comment Maxing out both PDUs in a rack with redundant power
Random idea: Perhaps you could have 3 power supplies to the rack, then have 1/3rd of your servers connect to each combination of 2 from the 3. In the event of 1 failure, you only add 50% more load to the other circuits, not 100%. So to run 20A of servers, you need 30A of power, not 40A.

revised Is Rsync like subversion, but for a server?
Explained that it only sends differences in files. Previous phrasing implied that it sent any file that had changed.

comment Gzip Piped to Rsync
@bichonfrise74 gzip is perfectly capable of piping it's output. rsync is not capable of "transferring" it. rsync needs a source file and a destination file and synchronises them, sending only the differences between the two.

comment Setting Up Git Repository on Remote Windows Server?
It's not the ONLY GUI method - there's also gitstack.com (I am not involved in the project & haven't tried it). There also might be others.

comment Log every command executed from root
You can just run sudo su - and have a root shell that won't be logged (except that you started it). This is what I normally type when I want to do more than a single command as root in one go, or if I want tab completion in directories normal users can't read.
