comment How to find existing or moved out machines on domain controller?
Unjoining an AD member computer will not delete the computer object, it will only mark it as disabled. If you disjoin a computer from a domain, the computer remains as a disabled account in Active Directory.

comment Set printers up on a per-room basis using Group Policy
The Loopback Procecssing is required to apply User Configuration upon in-scope Computer Objects. As you note, you're using (rightly) User Configuration -> Preferences... In order for this to apply to out-of-scope user objects, you need loopback.

comment Set printers up on a per-room basis using Group Policy
Yes, it's possible. If you've created OUs to store your computer objects by-room or lab, you can easily use User Preferences (with loopback processing merged) to assign per-user printers on specific computer objects. I'll try to understand your goals better before posting an answer.

comment What would cause an Active Directory connection attempt to a workstation?
What does nslookup your.ad.domain.example.com return? You may also want to look at your domain's SRV records for the _ldap. entries.

comment PowerShell module works but NOT in AWS PowerShell
Why is PSLogging module under C:\program files (x86)\AWS Tools\Powershell? The install guide has it under $Home\Documents\WindowsPowerShell\Modules or $Env:ProgramFiles\WindowsPowerShell\Modules.
