What are the basics of running a Web Server? Running the bare minimum is crucial, but it might not be obvious what/how to uninstall/disable/protect. Would it be acceptable to suggest to run a barebones, totally firewalled machine publicly that only forwards/proxies specific requests to their application server running on a private network? It would even be possible to suggest a distro/config for that since it doesn't need to be the same environment their app uses. |
