While this link may answer the question, it is better to include the essential parts of the answer here and provide the link for reference. Link-only answers can become invalid if the linked page changes. - From Review

comment Is it bad to redirect http to https?
Why use mod_rewrite when you can use the simpler Redirect permanent / https://domain.tld/ in the vhost for the domain's port 80 listener?

comment Why is Let's Encrypt now failing to look up an A record from Pragmatometer.com?
you probably don't need to run the --debug flag, then - so long as you have Python 2.7 installed (you need it on CentOS 6 because 2.7 isn't natively available)

comment Create centos7 ISO with kickstart file
can you summarize what's on the doc page so future visitors don't need to click to see what's there? Welcome to Server Fault - this looks like a great start of an answer, but really needs to be fleshed-out some more :)

comment How can I use Let's Encrypt (letsencrypt.org) as a free SSL certificate provider?
@JonathanHayward - I run Let's Encrypt in --standalone certonly mode (see my cronning how-to (~/letsencrypt/letsencrypt-auto --agree-tos --keep --rsa-key-size 2048 --standalone certonly -m user@domain.tld -d domain.tld [-d sub.domain.tld [-d ...]])), I don't use any of the plugins (like automatically scanning Apache configs), which I cover in both how-tos. I appreciate the suggestion, but am having good success in standalone mode and letting it update certs behind the scenes, so to speak.
