comment Which kind of virtualized networking is fastest?
My takeaway here is that the cpu on my VM host should be as fast as possible. I think I'll try doing some bandwidth tests on various processors, just to be sure.

I was thinking that a VM configured to use internal networking would be slightly less portable. If it was only using bridged networking, then it would see the other servers just as easily even if the VM was moved to a new host.

comment Is it possible to link discrete VPN networks?
I've clarified the wording of my question. A DMZ sounds like the right way to go about doing this. How hard is it to set up multiple DMZs?

comment Is it possible to link discrete VPN networks?
Wouldn't a simple site-to-site VPN allow their workstations to see our servers, and our workstations to see their servers? I'd like to avoid that if possible.

comment What is a good way to change partition on PC to install new OS?
Just be mindful of the fact that you can only have four primary partitions. If you're using one as a data drive, you can boot at most 3 different kinds of systems, without jumping through some complex hoops.

comment Hyper-V Server Backup
I haven't tried this myself, but what happens if you just try to do a regular copy (ie. xcopy) of the VHD without pausing the server? Does it result in an inconsistent or unbootable image?

comment Additional login security - windows domain user
A DRA (Data Recovery Agent) was required in a Windows 2000 domain, and by definition the DRA could recover any files encrypted using EFS. Windows Server 2003 does not require a DRA. Also, the user's private EFS key is encrypted using a hash of their username and password, so admins can reset it but never read it. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Encrypting_File_System
