I'm a software engineer at the Wikimedia Foundation. I'm on the Growth team.

In 2010, I earned my BS in Computer Science from Georgia Tech, where I was a research assistant with the Electronic Learning Communities lab.

Feel free to try out ProveIt, a tool we developed at ELC for Wikipedia reference management.

comment What is the general process of web hosting?
David is right. I will add there's no such thing as unlimited upload and data. Some are more unlimited than others.

comment Test a site with a static subdomain locally
Belongs on ServerFault. The basic idea is to use your hosts file to map all the domains to 127.0.0.1, then use name-based VirtualHosts (httpd.apache.org/docs/2.2/vhosts/name-based.html) to distinguish in Apache.

Thanks for the correction. Still, you can understand why I don't want to fiddle with termcap variables manually.

comment Restricting web requests to a particular domain or subfolder
No. An HTTP GET requires an fully open TCP/IP connection, which requires two-way communication.
