comment Decode all records from wtmp
I have no audit log and no ausearch. I have big wtmp file, and last utility does not print all records from it. I just want to dump all records from existing wtmp.

comment The best “performance per watt” (MFLOPS/W) for CPU and GPU for the moment
Interesting numbers from GPUS AND THE FUTURE OF PARALLEL COMPUTING, Keckler 2011 (www.davidglasco.com/Papers/ieee-micro.pdf): there are 50 picoJoules (pJ) needed for one double-precision fused multiply-add (DFMA) in 2010 with 40 nm node, and the number will be 6-9 pJ in 2017 on 10 nm node. There is also some energy to store/read data in SRAM: 14 pJ in 2010 and 2 pJ in 2017.

comment “LV Status NOT available” after converting root from lvm2 to lvm2+raid1 (lvconvert --type raid1)
update-initramfs didn't include dm-raid into image; I needed to manually add this module to /etc/initramfs-tools/modules file.

Hauke, my first problem was that I can't boot after lvconvert. Part of it - is that i have no dm-raid module in initramfs.

insmod dm_raid helped but I still needed to do lvchange -ay ubuntu to boot.

ptman, no, I didn't. Only waited for full resync. Do you think, that update-initramfs -u will include dm-raid into initrd?

How big is the "additional overhead" from "3."?

Chopper3, Can you provide a link to the related question? I can't find any question about 32bit host and 64bit virtualbox guest in this list (just rechecked).

"16473 MFLOPS" are this flops for 32 or for 64 bit? As I know, green500 is for 64-bit flops.

Per von Zweigbergk, as I know there is only SSH accessible from internet. There are internal services like webserver. And any access to internal network is only via this server.

scp don't work too: "... password: debug3: packet_send2: adding 64 (len 58 padlen 6 extra_pad 64) debug2: we sent a password packet, wait for reply " and nothing happens again. May be disk fault of /var/log/wtmp?

faker, there is no access to the server, it is remote (without remote console).

Server is remote... Does sftp require spawning too? My login was ok week ago; also there is huge time between password accept and disconnect.

Graham Perrin, thanks! Do you know any written description of builtin defragmentation in newer JHFS+?
