comment Docker container can't communicate with etcd
...and having written that, I realised you're using etcd2, and this is really etcd v1 specific :( You can take a similar approach but the variable names are different - I'll update this answer when I upgrade my clusters!

comment etcd2 fails to start on my CoreOS node
1 will work just fine for development. 2 will work, but if etcd fails on one node, the other one won't have a quorum and will stop - so not terribly useful.

comment Ldap client on CoreOS
You could create a one-shot fleet unit which compiles a fresh binary inside a docker container, and then copies the binaries to the base file system. The rest of the unit can then perform whatever additional bits of installation logic are needed?

comment Apache - listen only on specific domain, not IP
It's perfectly possible to do this at the apache level though, so this would be overkill. A simple method would be to ensure the first vhost was a catchall which denied access in an HTTP friendly way.

This isn't really an answer, hence your downvotes - on ServerFault this is better left as a comment.
