comment once in a while windows / .net application ignores the tcp fin flag
thanks. i did not put it clearly, but my main problem is that the client application from time to time did not 'notice' that the connection is being closed bu the server and waits, eventually times out.

as hacky as it might be it seems to work alright for most of the cases; i understand it'll never provide me with perfect assignment of users to datacenters, but i want to take some steps to minimize it at least [mostly for those using opendns, google's dns etc].

use also SPF, not just DKIM. my guess is that at the moment SPF is more widely checked than DKIM.

comment How to setup MySQL replication with minimal downtime
if some tables dont use innodb the backup might be inconsistent. see here: stackoverflow.com/a/7461466/104398 ; backup will not contain those skipped databases. if you set up replication based on such backup and dont filter what's replicated - your replication will break as soon as there's some operation on omitted databases.

question is better suited for superuser.com ; can it be that you saturate uplink/downlink of your wireless connection?

@WilliamHilsum try upgrading to the drac firmware 1.65. it is much more stable; i still had some hangs but much less often than with the previous version of the firmware.

comment openvpn tcp or udp (specific situation, reliability-layer collisions)
you can also run multiple openvpn servers on the same machine/ip address, just different ports [and tcp / udp - depending on the necessity]

comment openvpn tcp or udp (specific situation, reliability-layer collisions)
one thing to add. always UDP unless we're setting up 'road warrior' scenario for users connecting from different networks/locations. for them VPN running on 443/tcp might be the last resort to access internal resources from some hotels, airports and other locations where the traffic is heavily filtered.

it's a pretty vague question; you have to do your own QA and test things thoroughly.
