PerfMon counters have different Page File % Usage values for _Total and C:\pagefile.sys for SQL Server on VM Just to verify -- the system page file is actually C:\pagefile.sys? Has the file-specific counter ever been above zero at any time? |

Can't Connect SQL server - process being used by another process. Conflict with IIS? How are you connecting to SQL Server? Are you specifying the file names in the connection string? |

MS SQL Server 2000 timeout error with no apparent cause @gsteinert: Applications sometimes don't implement timeout settings correctly (because I've neeeeeever made that mistake myself... lol). Yeah, if you can see the end of it, I'd just as soon let it limp along until it goes away. |

Win Server 2008 R2 with Hyper-V and SQL Server @wobblycogs: According to this, the limit for SQL 2008 R2 Standard is 64 GB; according to this (a bit old, but seems reasonable), Hyper-V supports up to 4 cores and 64 GB RAM per VM. |

Parallel Processing in SQL Server 2008 R2 What do you need to scale out? Reads? Writes? Both? Reads are far easier to scale out than writes. |

Database Backup and Full-Text Search Did you try the registry changes? Seems pretty harmless to put it back if the change does nothing. |

How to allow users to monitor performance of a set of servers without touching every server? My point about Perfmon is that it requires permissions to be set on each individual box I want to monitor. I will check out the other two products. Thanks. |

What can cause SQL Server's maximum memory setting to appear to change over time? Yep, this is it. Looks like our memory allocation for SQL Server was a tad aggressive. Thanks! |
