The SSIS package sounded very promising and I tried it, but unfortunately it runs out of memory and fails. :( ERROR [HY000] Out of memory while reading tuples.; Error while executing the query (PSQLODBC35W.DLL)

That was my gut reaction, too, but most web hosts disallow that. They say that you are only allowed to store files used by your website (ie. the one you're hosting with them).

It's a web server, so nobody will be running X on it. I might want php5-gd, but I'm not sure why it's dependent on X libraries at all.

Thanks, I tried that, but couldn't really figure it out. The YaST interface for package management is actually less user-friendly than the command-line zypper, it seems.
