comment Cisco Anyconnect via OpenVPN tunnel on Windows
isn't it possible to tweak priorities, routing and such to make it work somehow? it can be completely manual, i don't expect to use such a contrived combination often. unfortunately i can't provide more details (like route -n) now, that'll have to wait till tomorrow.

I guess this is what I'll end up with - a custom build of SystemRescueCD using partimage/fsarchiver instead of ghost, but idea is basically the same. Unless, of course, something better shows up.

That'd be a solution if I had physical access to the hardware, but the machines are out in the wild now and I've got to work with what I have. There are too many machines to install KVMs in all of them. AMT can help only at BIOS level, hence my need for an ability to boot the unattended recovery from an USB flash drive.

I'll add some details to make the problem and requirements for the solution clearer. The boxes to be restored aren't doing work that needs any kind of backing up (they're multimedia players). They're running Windows, but it's not hugely important - if something breaks in software, I don't really want to know what as long as it's only this one machine - I want to restore to a known image ASAP. Shipping the drive is pretty much what's being done now, but it requires a technician to swap it - and at some places (most, actually), technicians aren't available. AMT = remote access to BIOS, etc.
