I removed the sendmail flag from the post. BTW, sendmail the binary is provided as a command line compatibility wrapper by any SMTP server that runs on linux as a sendmail replacement. And that is why the OP thought he was running sendmail instead of exim.

Type a list of your crontab and your perl script. Because of the ^I (tab character) in the log above I suggest you delete the crontab line that contains your script and retype it. Delete the line, exit crontab editor and then reinsert it again. You may have more "whitespace" characters that interfere with the execution and as a result mail get sent to your Gmail account constantly.

To rebuild and recompile in CentOS, after you edit sendmail.mc you run /etc/mail/make followed by a service sendmail restart.
