Just to note that git (or the perl-Git package) on CentOS 6 also seems to have this broken dependency and the fix is the same.

This is a classic bring-your-own-device network, think university halls of residence. The user will be logged in locally when they click connect. Ideally they should then provide their network credentials at connection time and be seamlessly connected.

Thanks for your answer I didn't know that Juniper ran a BSD variant I think as @pfo mentioned it's not the OS I'm worried about more that the device is more appliance like than server like e.g. no hard disk, etc.
