Work on a small team (consisting of four standard nerds) managing an isolated network of about 150 workstations across six sites in two states. Been here over six years (and I still get excited to go to work everyday)!! Everyone does everything (architecture, network, server, workstation, software, etc.) though each of us has our particular strengths.

I'm primarily responsible for web application/database development (.NET using C#, SQL Server, ASP.NET), but also do a bunch in the network/system security realm (pretty good at Group Policy, 802.1x, PKI, ePolicy Orchestrator). Really good at (but really hate) SCCM.

We have to manage our own network. Use a bunch of (relatively new) Cisco gear, so got good at IOS 12 out of necessity.

I have a blog where I write down answers to really esoteric sys admin problems that aren't easily found elsewhere on the Interweb.

Thanks Devin. Unfortunately, that site is blocked by my company. Due to the sensitive nature of our network, we are severely restricted on the third party applications that we can use. Ideally, any type of mechanism where we can see how it actually works (i.e. script or source code) would be preferred.

comment Change timezone without tzutil - Windows Web Server 2008
A couple of things to watch out for: First, the hotfix only applies to 2008 RTM or SP2; it doesn't appear to support SP1 (so you'll need to upgrade the service pack if that is the case). Second, make sure you're running the correct version of the hotfix. If you're like me, you're downloading the file from your workstation to move to the server. Microsoft tries to "detect" which version you need based on the calling machine. Be sure to select "Show hotfixes for all platforms and languages" to see all of the versions and pick the correct one based on your sever type.
