comment You're an open source shop.. how do you do shared calendaring?
I have a number of friends in companies who have switched to Google Apps/Google Calendar and it seems to be working reasonably well for all of them. (4 different companies.)

Except that there is that "sort" before the more, since sort needs the full input, the less -F would just let you see the sorting faster, and I bet it's pretty dang fast.

comment What's the difference between a switch, a router, and a modem?
Great answer. Well thought out. Though, the PPP link is established over that digital channel, it is the channel itself.

comment How much SWAP space on a high memory system?
Great post. Sander beat me to the only thing I was going to add to it. I though of one additional item, if you have multiple drives, putting your swap on a drive that doesn't have the rest of your active file systems can improve performance as it won't have as many conflicts.

This seems like a good place to just use someone else's hard work creating/managing the blacklist.

Actually, I find that the reboots aren't really needed. Particularly on the updates.

comment VMWare Server High Processor Usage (Disk I/O)
I haven't tried running it on bare partitions yet. Maybe that will make performance reasonable.

I have also experienced this problem. It happens with new small images, and it doesn't seem to matter if the drives are RAIDed
