comment Apache Caching and Expires configuration
I've read that you either send etags OR set last modified. But could you come up with something i can put into my .htaccess that would correspond with your answer?

I didn't turn off etags. What I want is to set a far in the future expires but still have the user check to see if the file has been changed/modified (probably via etags). Any suggestions on the config I should use?

I guess I have not really found it to break or at least I don't know what a website breaking looks like. It seems that it just takes longer for the page to load when I'm doing a bunch of concurrent connections. Any pointers on what to be looking for would be extremely helpful.

mysql is on the same box. development machine. I'm using localhost and it's included in my hosts directory in Windows/system32/... hosts file. I have PHP set to E_ALL in the INI. PHP works, connecting to mysql times out. port is 3306 in the php.ini and its set as so by mysql.
