comment Why do I have to log into ssh with my password once per day?
klist -v produced an error for me, but klist by itself shows two things that started when I logged in and expire 10 hours later, so I am guessing those are the tickets. This is likely the culprit if it requires my password after the expires time.

comment Is it possible to use RPM as a poor man's tripwire?
Because all of my experiences with tripwire have been bad and this isn't for intrusion detection, it is for detecting changes made in a production environment.

comment How can I keep SSH's know_hosts up to date (semi-securely)?
This is why I asked, I knew there had to be a better way. I already have a pattern setup in ~/.ssh/config for those hosts (to force root as the user), so adding a StrictHostKeyChecking no to that section solves the problem nicely.
