I first worked in an IT Support role while studying for my Computer Science BSc, this wasn't the first time I had helped people with technology; it was however the first time I was paid for the privilege. Through my university career I continued to work in IT Support with a year long placement as a hp-ux engineer where I helped build a linux capability for the organization.
I now make a living as a Technical Consultant with Amido, we are relatively small London-based Start-up working on identity and Systems Integration projects for some of the largest companies in London and the South-East of England. I live and breathe devops which means I am a vocal proponent of best practices for our software development teams focusing on continuous-delivery, continuous-deployment, Systems Thinking, Reducing Feedback Cycles, configuration-management and Infrastructure as Code. Professionally I have worked on a wide range of technologies from azure to amazon-web-serivces with a bit of rackspace and google-compute-cloud mixed in for good measure.
If you think you might recognize my name, then it is likely we have interacted through the atom-editor tag, one of my open source projects or through my time as Lead Developer on EVEMon: A character manager for the MMORPG Game EVE Online. I'm a firm believer in open-source and wherever possible I look to release code under free and open source licenses, you can take a look at some of my work on my GitHub, Amido's GitHub and atom.io.
