comment windows server 2012: delete remembered domain
Every time you create a .local domain, Putin invades a former Soviet republic. If "tes" is your choice and you own example.com, use tes.example.com.

comment Experience using Disk2Vhd to P2V migrate Exchange Server?
Initially, each volume will have the same capacity as on the original system. However, a variety of third-party tools will allow you to resize the VHD files, after which you can resize the partitions within them. You may want to run Disk2VHD on your Exchange server and play with the VHD files in an offline test environment to discover exactly what you will need to do.

comment Could anyone explain the logs from my IPMI
Check documentation. Absent documentation, you can figure this out by a process of elimination. Does your server tell you what memory you have in which slots when it POSTs, or when you go into the BIOS setup program? If you remove some memory, which slots are then shown as empty? Basic critical thinking is all that is required here. But, if you go down this road, be sure not to lose track of which module was which.

comment How many NGinx redirects is too many?
This answer is potentially useful because it points to a limitation somewhere between "tens of thousands of redirects" and "1.8 million redirects" on a specified platform (AWS m1.xlarge). It would be even more useful if you had documented the actual response times for various numbers of redirects, e.g. for none, for one thousand, for ten thousand, for a hundred thousand, and for a million.

comment DDoS and Heroku
This is interesting. It should be noted that as of today, "advanced DDoS mitigation controls" are an advertised feature of Heroku. If they truly did respond in the way that the author describes, they were not doing their job, and my reaction would have been very similar.

comment Best Linux Partitioning for Multiple Resizeable HDD
@bonytasnim If you don't want the machine to go down when a disk fails, why are you proposing to use a single unmirrored disk for the operating system? You need to think this through.

"Mirroring or data retrieval is not important here." Can you be clearer about this expectation? RAID is not to preserve data integrity; that's what backups are for. The purpose of RAID is to preserve uptime. Will your 400 LAN users be up a creek if this thing goes down and needs time to be rebuilt?

Of course. I sincerely hope that this question was not asked by someone working in a datacenter.

Of course, normally the default gateway is the only route.

comment Can Ubuntu Server be installed on the same machine running Ubuntu Desktop? If yes, what are the steps?
It may be natural to try using Ubuntu as a server OS, particularly if you are already familiar with Ubuntu as a desktop OS. That being said, when building a Linux server, I strongly suspect that the ServerFault community would be almost unanimous in recommending the use of CentOS (or the supported upstream product, RHEL) unless you have a very specific reason to use a different distribution.

Don't forget that your VM may initially need a "legacy network adapter" if you're P2Ving an older version of Windows.
