comment Can I nohup/screen an already-started process?
disown is not specific to bash. It's also in zsh, ksh93, ...

comment Using “touch” to create directories - create “shadow” copy of directories recursively
then you also want double-quotes around the $(...) substitution, to protect against whitespace-splitting of the result, and should figure out how to deal with newlines embedded in the filenames. find's -print0 and using a shell which supports having read use a NUL delimiter may help.

No, that's not quite right. Assuming prefork MPM, there will be one process left running as root, which acts as a supervisor and does not handle requests, and then a bunch of processes running as the runtime user which handle requests. So there's nothing intrinsic preventing mod_wsgi from handling arbitrary users, it's a Simple Matter Of Programming to make it do so (sorry Graham, not trying to create work for you). I missed the implication that there would be "many", sorry.

That alias is not installed by default. You need to choose to create the symlink somewhere in $fpath yourself.

comment Linux - Scriptable email client?
Remember that email handling is fundamentally dealing with untrustworthy content, because there's no complete authenticated trail for any arbitrary email, so you have to always code to deal gracefully with what an attacker might throw at you, not just the common cases.

comment Linux - Scriptable email client?
dealing safely with nested MIME parts, with multipart/alternative dealt with correctly, rather than just being treated as multipart/mixed, and so on and so on, either requires incredible complexity when handling the data, or use of nested data structures. sh doesn't cut it. ksh does. bash and zsh don't. If you want to write something which only a ksh user can possibly maintain, then sure, shell will count.

comment Change location of error_log for userdir + suphp
For clarity: this is suphp and mod_userdir integration, so that for any given user, when using suphp to run a script on their behalf, the error_log goes into a per-user error_log file. [deleted my non-answer]

comment Not able to update shadowLastChange value for LDAP
This is accomplished one of two ways: trusting the PAM modules on the client side to do this, or having the server update things automatically, and that's server-specific. You don't mention which server software you're running.
