comment Are SSD drives as reliable as mechanical drives (2013)?
Excellent post. One pet peeve of mine: RAID controllers are not always the right choice with SSDs. RAID controllers were designed for striping data and adding error correction codes across multiple magnetic disks. SSD controllers already natively stripe data and add error correction codes across multiple banks of NVRAM. Also, adding a RAID controller introduces one extra SPOF, the RAID controller itself. Using a separate RAID controller is often the right choice, but sometimes using a better SSD (higher grade SATA/SAS or even PCI-E cards like Fusion-IO) is a better choice.

comment Should CNAME Be Used For Subdomains?
A quick comment, MXrecords must not be CNAMEs, see serverfault.com/a/232243/2874 It probably works fine in practice -- but still, better not to do so.

comment Should CNAME Be Used For Subdomains?
@Marco Demaio: About the "domain root A-Record": A second level domain like company.comis a zone apex. It needs a SOA record. Thus it must be an A Record and not a CNAME -- see serverfault.com/questions/170194/…
