Ran out of disk space, how to tar without creating copy You do know that tar doesn't compress the file, right? Gzipped file will be smaller than the original, but a tar file will be bigger (unless the tar file is zipped). |

How should I manually add IP addresses to denyhosts? That is my very question, @adaptr. What is the best way to do that? Is it as simple as "just add it such-and-such file"? Or are there many? Or is there a command way to do it? |

How should I manually add IP addresses to denyhosts? The key point here seems to be that denyhosts doesn't touch any IPs in the /etc/hosts.deny file that it didn't take responsibility for. (My apologies if I missed that before, and thanks for editing to add that if it wasn't there in the first place) But does that mean that I should not involve denyhosts in the process? That I should just dump IPs in there? |

How do I delete everything in the /tmp/ folder? If there are files still there, there's probably a very good reason for that. Stop and learn why. Post what files are still there so we can help you understand why they're there. |

All servers flooded by salt water, is it possible to recover data from multi-platter drives? Everyone saying "Don't you have backups?", please stop. Clearly he does not or he'd not be posting here. "You should have had backups" is just as bad. He's well aware of that. |

What are PCRE limits? Retag "perl" as "pcre" since PCRE is decidedly not Perl. |
