That is what I am currently configuring, however I have read some articles discussing real time scanning and how scanning on write does not offer any additional protection. I'm currently reviewing all of the exclusions are set correctly for the apps on the system.

comment Recomendations For Backing Up Remote Users With no Internal LAN Access
I cannot guarantee that remote individuals will be able to VPN in. From my point of view, I can't have a user loose data, and then tell them that it was their problem because they did not follow procedure when I know full well that there are solutions available that do not need a VPN.

The software looks very interesting. How did you come about finalizing on using CrashPan in your environment. Did you look at any other options?

You should be able to update the alias (I actually think its called Display Name) without impacting the end user. Just make sure you update any scripts. I have seen some backup products reference this field as well, so you may want to check your backup documentation before making the switch.

comment Flush MSSQL Express in Memory Data to Disk Without Service Shutdown
Thank you for the response. Does VSS actually write the in memory data back to disk, or does it copy to temporary storage area to allow for an application to backup just that chunk of data? The disk solution that I'm using is actually mirroring the primary disk, and then taking snapshots at defined intervals. Unless the data is written back to the primary disk, the snapshot will not be able to snap a consistent copy of the database.
