I connect computers, humans, and narrative.

I'm always looking for interesting projects, especially if they involve Lisp/Clojure, Python, or JavaScript. I am in the process of relocating to Seattle to join the team at Amazon. I write about technical thoughts at http://stronglyemergent.com along with a co-author, and I have a GitHub page that I'm gradually populating with projects as well as a CV/résumé at Stack Overflow Careers.

Took a while to kick in, but that seems to have worked. Gosh, editing the Registry directly is so much more convenient than a GUI tool or a shell command.

I've been sticking with the GUI tools for now, so I haven't made that registry edit. Trying that now.

The settings in the manual only say "flow control: none," and the HyperTerminal setting is also "none." That sounds like a promising line of inquiry, though. If the adapters were the problem, would a proper double-female RS232 cable solve the problem?

Ahah! That is a critical piece of information that I didn't have, and that things didn't make sense without. Thank you.

Also, just to be absolutely clear, this is how I'm doing it. I am editing the /etc/ssh/sshd_config file on the box in question. After editing, sudo /etc/init.d/ssh restart. Test local-network login, test WAN login. Am I missing something important?
