comment How to ban hardware interrupts with IRQBALANCE_BANNED_CPUS on Ubuntu?
NOPE. I can confirm it does NOT work on Ubuntu 10.04.1. This config option IRQBALANCE_BANNED_CPUS="1" is ignored.

I did NOT use the quotes. Could that be it? :) I will test later and let you know...

See my edit number 3: IRQBALANCE_BANNED_CPUS is being ingored on Ubuntu, unless we are messing up the mask. But I tried 1 and 3e without any success. :(

Please check my edit in the original question. I need to know how to read /proc/interrupts to make sure my configuration is working and my cpu is banned from interrupts. Thanks!

Thanks for the explanation. The confusion here is: To BAN CPU 0 on a 6-cpu machine. Do i use: 000001 (1) or 111110 (3e). It is the first, right?

comment Is it possible to migrate my whole ubuntu server from a desktop to Amazon Cloud?
Yeah, but if you copy a file without the other files scattered through your system, then it does NOT work, agree? So you have to copy EVERYTHING, the whole image. Have you seen what Apple does when you buy a new Mac? The whole thing is copied and the system is the same as the old one, no differences and everything pre-installed works.

Also it looks like you are talking about copying files. This is clearly what I don't want. I want to copy STATE, not just flat files. There are a lot of things installed in this machine and I want this STATE to be transfered to the other machine. That's why I think I need an IMAGE copy, something like a snapshot.

The problem is when you have 100 things installed there. It will take a month to remember and migrate everything. :-(

Will rsynch copy configuration as well? I have a bunch of software installed in this machine. Will that be moved as well? And what do I have to rsynch? Everything staring from '/' ? I don't want to have to remember all the 100 programs and utilities I installed in that server. It will be impossible.

That helped. It looks like I am booting after SQUID is being accessed. Maybe it was not a hardware problem but a SQUID problem? I purged Squid from my system. Let's see. Thx

But I want my users to have access to /var/www and not just to their local folder. That's the problem.
