I work at a large international development charity in London, as International Operations Manager. I manage a team of Regional ICT Service Managers, based in developing world countries, who keep our users happy through fixing problems, setting up great connectivity and generally making sure users can do their day jobs.

I previously worked at the same place as International Network Systems Analyst. I looked after a bunch of ICT systems in offices in the developing world, as well as looking after systems in our HQ. I gained a lot of knowledge in that job, and the techy side competes with the people stuff in the new role, hence I still hang out here a lot.

I'm passionate about the use of ICT in developing countries, both in terms of dealing with the inherent problems for ICT in those places, and using ICT as a tool for development.

You may have better luck with this question if you say which model routers you are currently using.

I agree - post your solution as an answer and people will vote it up, you get points, and the questions can be marked as answered properly.

comment What happens if you install an SSL certificate?
You do need to worry about this. They will install the certificate for you on their webserver, but the security if your web application is not guaranteed by the presence of an SSL certificate. SSL just secures data between the browser and the server. You are still responsible for how your application works and handles data once it recieves it. Simply having an SSL certificate in place will not be sufficient for most audits.

comment How to mount server into a rack - rails?
Sounds like the rails came with the rack, not the servers. Rails are server specific, and should fit any rack of the same depth.

Removed reference to home use - 1 misjudged tag and two words is all it takes to get a question closed in this increasingly curmudgeonly community!

comment Why might Windows falsely claim a self-signed root CA certificate is revoked?
The fingerprint is unique to the cert, so that wouldn't be the case, unless you were extremely unlucky.

If you are only seeing this on a single machine, can you identify anything different about that machine? E.g. group policy applied. Have you tried creating a new cert and seeing whether the same problem exists on this computer or others?

Microsoft have a lengthy white paper on troubleshooting certificates - see technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc700843.aspx
