comment System Requirements of a write-heavy applications serving hundreds of requests per second
As a programmer, you can test all of these conditions yourself to determine whether your present hardware and configuration will satisfactorily support the anticipated load. If you would prefer to get expert advice that is specific to your application's needs, you should hire an expert systems administrator.

Have you tried the MySQL daemon cannot start troubleshooting instructions at the Arch Wiki?

comment Server extremely lags and logs bunch of 'internal dummy connection'
This is not the exact issue described in the linked bug report, though - until the root of the problem is determined - is the mysqld crash resolved when you divert requests from loopback addresses (or handle requests from loopback addresses by halting processing in your application) ..?

... but then isn't each session-binding webserver now a single point of failure?

TIA/EIA-568-B.3 Optical Fiber Cabling Components Standard - section 4.3 describes expected minimum bend radius, may be helpful.

@Clueless - "anyone have any ideas on how to "test" the 500 error?" telnet localhost 80 + (Enter) + HEAD /path/to/500/error/page HTTP/1.1 + (Enter) + Host: yourhost.com + (Enter) + (Enter)

comment Allowing PHP to “echo” as the Script Runs
sleep() does not count against PHP's script timeout value (except when PHP is running under Windows). See set_time_limit() man page: php.net/manual/en/function.set-time-limit.php

comment MySQL for SQL Server DBAs
@Autocracy - I think the common parlance there is "hot-copy" or "hot-backup"

comment Check for backdoors in PHP scripts
Most of the comments you've received are accurate in that you should not copy compromised code (you didn't specify whether you had) - perhaps you could add that detail?

comment Any disadvantage to short DNS TTL?
+1 ... and I suspect one of the reasons extremely short TTL's aren't honored would be to discourage fast flux abuse: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fast_flux (i.e. there is a very good reason short TTL's are ignored)

+1 for RSA key instructions

comment https: how much is protected/encrypted?
+1 Though it also bears mentioning (particularly if one is asking in the interest of maintaining privacy on an untrusted network) that DNS is a separate service and, by default, DNS lookups are sent "in the clear"

comment MySQL is killing the server IO
@OneOfOne - Given that most of your site's traffic is probably coming from unauthenticated users who will only read the content, it is unnecessary to send their requests through vBulletin as they would be satisfied with cached content served by a reverse proxy.

comment Network administrators: Is it important to have a Master's Degree?
+1 - I've found that the employers I most enjoyed working for followed a similar concept of meritocracy... does it matter where you learned how to do something if you know the best way to do it?

comment How much does it usually cost to host a small Wordpress blog on Amazon?
+1 for an accurate depiction... however... a sly admin could host his WordPress instance locally for editing and such, then use S3 as a reverse proxy (assuming comments and interactive features are disabled or forwarded to the working WordPress instance)

comment extreme slowness with a remote database in Drupal
+1 and @ceejayoz you might consider using stunnel to encrypt MySQL traffic between servers just to be on the safe side: stunnel.org/examples/mysql.html

Do you have any mod_rewrite directives intended to block image hotlinking?
