After more than three years of participating in StackOverflow, I finally figured out why this gray area to the right of my profile page was not working.

I assumed it was supposed to show a diagram of reputation or something. At some point I think I even submitted a bug report about it. Now instead it turns out, it was in fact working all the time - it was just not telling me about it!

This gray, square area was in fact trying, in it its own little non-intuitive way to tell me "-You have not entered anything in the About Me field on your profile". #UsabilityFail #Nyan

Keep in mind that it's likely you still need to explicitly listen on 127.0.0.1 in addition to the one you intend binding on. Failing that will quite likely stop delivery (as well as look-prevention) from working.

comment How to start/stop/restart launchd services from the command line?
It always seemed quite unintuitive to me that something could be "loaded" while at the same time "stopped". I guess it will make sense, eventually :)

I can see "com.openssh.sshd" in that list, so I guess that config is "loaded". Now, how come for example sudo launchctl start com.openssh.sshd doesn't do anything, not evan fail with an error message, even less so actually launch anything?

In addition, launchctl list does not complain but does not show everything, sudo launchctl list is needed for that.

But reading the man-page does not tell me what the equivalent of either invoke-rc.d my-little-daemon restart is ... It refers to "job_label" but does not tell me how to list the "job_label"s available.

Even though the topic doesn't mention apache in particular, I should have anticipated this interpretation.... I'm sorry, but that was not what I was looking for :)

comment How can I shut down (power off) cluster nodes during low load?
What I would like to see, are real world, practical examples of how to do rescheduling in various batch job systems, after the server node count has changed.

Maybe you could append the active firewall rules & policies to your question? That's the output of "iptables -v -L" and "iptables -v -t nat -L".

I guess you meant Computer Configuration > Windows Settings > Security Settings > Account Policies > Password Policy > "Password must meet complexity requirements"

YAFFS is designed specifically for NAND flash memory devices. You should not be confusing raw flash memory with packaged flash based "disks". The former is generally accessed through the specialized mtd driver, while the latter would present itself as a generic block device. The SSDs that McWafflestix talk about are just regular disks, block devices, as far as the OS is concerned. It internally takes care of issues such as wear leveling so that you can happily run for example ext3 on them.
