comment Dynamic nginx domain root path based on hostname?
This looks like fun, I plan on playing more with map now. I also was not aware that the configuration files were not processed in a linear fashion.

comment Many ISP's is block port 25, how do I choose an alternative port?
Yep, in an ideal world that would be great. But, expecting them to pay the increased price just to open 25 isn't a reasonable cost/benefit ratio.

comment Many ISP's is block port 25, how do I choose an alternative port?
@MichaelHampton, I'm not, however I need these installs to default to an alternative port so that even if they can't talk with other MTA, they can still talk with each other.

SMTP port 587 is only for MUA submission to a MTA - it's not for MTA's to talk with each other. There is no central MTA or MX server in this, each system install needs to run by itself.

comment Good reasons to keep 32-bit Microsoft Windows desktop OSes
Some hardware needs it. Depends on your setup. First, and some second generation Atom netbooks only work on 32bit OS's.

comment How do you set server specific ENV values in Nginx?
@ShaneMadden, the nginx config isn't part of the project but must be created on each server manually. So it won't be overwritten. What I posted isn' the full configs - we are also just using standard fastcgi_pass to forward the request to ruby/php.

comment Downtimeless MySQL backups on a budget
You can buy servers for a lot cheaper than $150 a month. 7GB does not sound like that much data. You can buy disposable 128MB servers for as little as $1.50 a month and more impressive 1GB ones for about $20. Since there is no need for a query cache you can easily handle plenty of writes with a GB of RAM and a server with an SSD.
