Hello, my name is Chris. I'd love to introduce myself, but how do you summarize a life in a few sentences? I could tell you about the two beautiful women in my life, my wife and daughter; or that I work as a systems administrator; that I help my friends and family at every opportunity; or about the work I've done in my community. Perhaps it's best to leave this short, and say I'm someone who's glad to meeting you and hope I can help with whatever problems.

I'm a Windows administrator by day; but my first passion is FreeBSD and Open Source Software. I put my money where my mouth is on a quarterly basis. I'm inspired everyday by my peers, their abilities, drive, and passion for competent applications of technology and supporting operationals. As a Myers-Briggs INTJ and DISC C/D I value Quality highly and at times can be a purist. Incomplete jobs are loans with high interest (see Technical Debt).

What's a "D1"? What does "seems to be playing up" mean exactly? Seizing is an act of last desperation and tends to not end well, especially if you're doing it for completely wrong reasons. Why are you messing with DC2's metadata if it's not in the testing area anyway - this is asking for even more trouble. Was the DNS service not starting on it's own?

comment Why would zfs performance be bad for moving files within an fs?
Yeah, when you get under a few percent ZFS just starts crawling. I wish I understood why better, but it comes with the territory for now.

comment Local or public NTP servers?
1. That doesn't happen or at least not on a scale that matters. 2. It depends on what exactly is "out of sync" and by how much. If a single external server is way off it will not be used. The chances of all 4 being off by a crazy amount is astronomically small. If you're concerned with accuracy, use the USNO server cluster, it's low jitter will make it's time preferable.

comment Power Cables Required to Switch from 120v to 240v for Dell Poweredge Servers
+1 This is even more important in 120v systems where the amp draw is double. All the equipment I have has ratings of 5A for C13/C14, and 15A for C19/C20 - basically consistent with what you're saying. Out of curiosity, what do you plug into the wall for ~30A or ~50A?

comment Services/Processes running Per RDS Session
If that's the case then something else is starting the program, it's not just pinned to the task bar. Mitch has some good info below regarding this.
