Yeah I saw that. Anyway to reclaim that? Why would RHEL be different in it's device mappings than Centos?

Added but had to remove a bunch so it could fit. I've put ... where I've removed hopefully only useless information. If you need any of it let me know.

Thats interesting, I thought it would be the opposite as HVM should be bare metal (I would think exposing full hardware capability) where as PV starts the boot cycle and then chain loads the kernel specified in the menu.lst so wouldn't have full direct access to all the hardware. Surely as AWS recommends HVM that their main supported OS would be HVM and present the same specs as the Centos HVM?

Also, turning off kdump did reclaim some space but it's still 200MB off (3783872KiB)

I can give you dmesg but it's quite long, something you'd prefer in it or just dump the whole thing?

I did it on a temp VM to test first but now have done it during a maintenance window. Question updated with relevant info.

So with a snapshot of my VM I tested turning off kdump and have about 164MB of more RAM. But still 200MB short of what I would expect.

Thanks, I might avoid this but remember for the next VM I build. It doesn't account for the other 300MB though.
