comment nginx proxy_cache: limit parallel requests for the same URL
the requests are for files for dynamically generated files. So we don't have a stale cache either.

Does this solve the problem of having client B's request forwarded to the backend before client A's response?

comment nginx proxy_cache: limit parallel requests for the same URL
a second request was made before the first response. I've added a diagram to make it clearer.

This is already configured and happening. Subsequent requests (after the first successful one) are served from cache. The problem is the multiple requests until the first successful response.

comment Moving VPN configuration from Juniper SSG5 to server
@DerfK when using Amazon VPC I can't communicate with servers that aren't in the VPC.

comment Moving VPN configuration from Juniper SSG5 to server
@DerfK the entire local side is already on EC2, except for the VPN (and a proxy server that talks to the servers on the remote end). So it's only 1 server in /29, but the src-nat requires a /29 (or else phase 2 of the VPN won't come up).

FreeBSD doesn't run on EC2 yet (or at least not production ready according to daemonology.net/freebsd-on-ec2)

Amazon RDS has an extra slave (we use the Multi AZ deployment). But at the moment, we can't access it.
