How does this ensure that the user is deleted before the group?

comment Puppet client caching but not updating local facts
The server pmaster-dev has two puppet roles: it is a puppet client of some other puppet master, and it is a puppet master for some set of clients. What is confusing is that when you run puppet agent --test on pmaster-dev (which should trigger only its client role), you see an attempted update of clientconfigs.sqlite3 on pmaster-dev which should only happen in pamster-dev's master role.

comment Puppet client caching but not updating local facts
When I run /usr/bin/puppet agent --test on pmaster-dev the output starts with info: Connecting to sqlite3 database: /var/lib/puppet/state/clientconfigs.sqlite3, so it appears that the file clientconfigs.sqlite3 is used by the puppet client (at least in this case). If a client is not supposed to be using that file, why is the puppet client on pmaster-dev accessing it?

comment NameVirtualHost *:443 has no VirtualHosts on debian squeeze
The NameVirtualHost *:443 is the heart of the issue. I use that directive so that I can do do name-based virtual hosting over port 443. Otherwise, I would need one IP address for each virtual host. I cannot leave that directive out of my configuration.

I have updated my post with two of the files defining the virtual hosts.

But, as my post indicates, I have two virtual hosts setup to use 443. So the warning doesn't seem to be accurate.

That was a good suggestion; it seems that my MySQL supports SSL but the have_ssl variable is DISABLED; I think there is something wrong with my MySQL installation or binary.

Unfortunately, that command yielded nothing.

comment How to detect test being run in context of a Debian package build?
I am not trying to detect whether something is a test, rather, when building a package tests are run. Inside that test I want to detect that the test is being run in the context of a package build rather than a being run "normally".

comment How to chain puppet masters
I tried your suggestion but am getting the same "The certificate retrieved from the master does not match the agent's private key." errors when starting the puppetmaster daemon on server B as Zoredache seems to be getting. Be aware that I want server B to act as its clients CA. This is not the same as multi master setups.

When the VPN is on it blocks me from other servers that are not behind the firewall and do not allow machines behind the firewall to access them.

comment AWS document on number of databases allowed on an Amazon RDS instance
I did a test and created 40 MySQL schemas in a single RDS MySQL instance, so this suggests that the RDS infrastructure does not limit the number MySQL schemas you can create.

comment Tripwire reporting a changed /dev/char
You said "verifying that whatever device is mapped to 253:0 is expected". How do I find out what that device is? (The server is a virtual machine.)
