Malcolm Reynolds says love keeps a machine running when it should fall.. that's good. The beasts at work should die when I quit then, right?

comment Fixed dhcp host to automatically expire any lease
Damn. There are patches! :D But might be more work that its worth. Next best guess would be simply set 4 min expiry on printers, that way they refresh every 2 min and would therefore only be out of service for max of 2 min on move/install.

comment Configure Reverse Proxy on MikroTik RouterOS with different web application ports
It does have a proxy, haven't seen "reverse proxy" anywhere though. wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:IP/Proxy

I prefer "blackhole" over "drop" for brute-forcers.. it wastes so much more of their time!

comment Web server behind MikroTik and dynamic dns
Don't forget the gateway setting on the server, if it is still set to the old router, then packets coming back won't be going to MT!

comment squid doesn't cache anything at all
MT.. best to use the Proxy on the MT device too, then simply set squid as the parent proxy. Don't forget to bypass the MT proxy for the squid server, otherwise you'll get a loop.

comment Google-Bot fell in love with my 404-page
That really looks like apachelogs.. has that changed recently? (or any .htaccess file?) because you may have inadvertantly become an open-proxy.. but I think you would be seeing something more like: "GET /supacrackwareznshit.info/ldjkflsdjf.php";.. etc, rather than those.. the UserAgent is a fiction, and anybody can put anything in their user-agent header.

comment Apache DDOS Prevention
I use denyhosts and fail2ban, but it will only catch it "after" its scanned the logs.. this will pick it up "before".. so you can shape someone who is trying lots of passwords really quickly trying to get in before the daemon checks.

revised Apache DDOS Prevention
As suggested, this fix might not be appropriate for larger or clustered server arrangements.

Does it work with malloc instead of file? You might also need the closing } in your vcl file.

comment Bandwidth Manager Using Squid
Does it have to be squid? Why not use something designed for the purpose of allocating pools of traffic.. like MikroTik? (I'm not affiliated with them) Squid can only do web traffic! Useless if users start torrenting or skyping etc..

comment How to find the number of open ports in linux?
Just saw "ss" below, thats awesome, didn't know about it.. much better! Use the ip_local_port_range to determine what your linux is configured to allow, but that shows you what you are currently using in a much more accessible format!
