Malcolm Reynolds says love keeps a machine running when it should fall.. that's good. The beasts at work should die when I quit then, right?

comment VMs on ESXi system, only able to use internal IPs
Try changing to vmxnet3, as per communities.vmware.com/message/2307363 it should be part of the linux kernel. Also, is that gateway in the same subnet? It looks wrong.

comment Convert VHD to use on QEMU KVM
According to: askubuntu.com/questions/406365/… it could just be the version of Ubuntu.. if you are running 12.04, that could be it.

comment Redirect private LAN traffic to internal server when DNS answers with external IP
Its even possible to "divert" external dns requests to your local MT cache.. I do that for certain devices which shall remain nameless and happen to resolve google every sec for some reason. Yay dstnat! /ip firewall nat; add action=dst-nat chain=dstnat comment="4.1: Hijack DNS" dst-port=53 protocol=udp src-address=LUSER_IP to-addresses=MT_IP to-ports=53

comment Monitor squid proxy usage by subnet
Could you simply use a heirarchy? one proxy per subnet, (with no cache, it simply forwards all requests to your cache), and each one responsible for logging/reporting on its own subnet... would be fairly easy to duplicate config once the first one is working.. dunno. Feasible?

comment Squid not caching files (Randomly)
Damn that is a massive obj_in_memory setting.. Try setting that much lower, like 1MB, or less.. You could also try using IMS refresh_patterns? refresh_pattern -i \.(dmg|msi|deb|rpm|exe|zip|tar|tgz|ram|rar|bin|ppt|doc|tiff)$ 10080 90% 43200 override-expire ignore-no-cache ignore-no-store ignore-private reload-into-ims

Is that rule before any other http_access rules? The order is important in squid.conf

Have you tried just that DNS server, ignoring all others? Failing that, I'd try setting up your own DNS stub that points to 10.88.. for that domain.

comment Fixed dhcp host to automatically expire any lease
Damn. There are patches! :D But might be more work that its worth. Next best guess would be simply set 4 min expiry on printers, that way they refresh every 2 min and would therefore only be out of service for max of 2 min on move/install.

It does have a proxy, haven't seen "reverse proxy" anywhere though. wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:IP/Proxy
