comment Mysterious bandwidth limit
Did you ever get anywhere with this, i am seeing the same behavior. What is strange though is that i got the data center to bootup a linux rescue CD to run some tests, i managed to transfer a file from one of my servers to another (London -> Salt Lake City) at 4-5 MB/s. From windows i get similar behavior to you, except i get around 300-380 KB/s per connection.

comment IIS Spikes in anonymous users - crippling my server
1) Well a few weeks ago with the same load, everything was just fine. 2) same as 1, nothing has changed that could affect performance. 3) No sql server, there is a database server called RavenDb, but it won't be adding connections to my IIS server. I'm not sure what other information i can tell you that will help. I think my question really at this stage is how to get a list of IP addresses from my IIS logs to see where the connections are coming from when it spikes...

comment Windows server 2008r2 crashed overnight - dump log
I do understand what your saying, but I don't have that kind of low level knowledge to understand a dump file which is why i asked for help. I do research everything i possibly can but sometimes i need a little push...like today, this question eventually helped me fix my problem.

Thank you, this lead me into the right direction...in the end it was down to my power settings being set to 'Balanced' instead of 'High performance'. In effect this turned the PCI-Express link state power management from 'Moderate power savings' to 'no power savings'. I had thousands of errors in my error log before, now i have none.

so basically, very difficult to find the route cause unless it's reproducible.

comment Very active database with high % disk times
ok thanks, i seen that earlier...however as a novice when it comes to performance monitoring i'm still not quite sure what i should be looking at / cross referencing. I just fired up ProcessMon and got some IO stats for RavenDb.Server.exe which says it's using around 28 MB/s, doesn't sound too high.
